Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about therapy services at Live Well Counseling and Training in Linwood, NJ.
Do you accept insurance?
I accept the following insurance plans:
- Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Aetna
- United Healthcare
- Cigna
I also work as an out-of-network provider for other insurance plans. For out-of-network coverage, I can provide you with a superbill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits that can cover a portion of the session cost. I'm happy to discuss insurance and payment options during our initial consultation.
How much does therapy cost?
Session fees vary depending on the type and length of service. Please contact me at 609-206-7435 or [email protected] for current rates. I believe quality mental health care should be accessible, and I'm committed to discussing payment options that work for your situation.
What should I expect in my first session?
Your first session is primarily about getting to know each other. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, relevant background information, and any current challenges you're facing. I'll explain my therapeutic approach, answer your questions, and together we'll determine if we're a good fit. It's completely normal to feel nervous—many people do. This session is as much for you to evaluate me as it is for me to understand how I can best support you.
Do you offer telehealth/virtual sessions?
Yes! I offer secure telehealth sessions to clients throughout New Jersey. Telehealth provides the same quality care as in-person sessions with added convenience and flexibility. All virtual sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure your privacy and confidentiality.
Where is your office located?
My office is located at 2021 New Road, Unit 10, Linwood, NJ 08221. The office is easily accessible with convenient parking available. I serve clients from Linwood, Atlantic County, and surrounding South Jersey communities.
What types of issues do you help with?
I specialize in helping adults with anxiety, depression, stress management, substance use and addiction, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and personal growth. My background includes certifications as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and Certified Mental Health Nutrition Clinical Specialist (CMNCS).
How long are therapy sessions?
Standard therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes. Initial consultations are 15 minutes and offered free of charge to help determine if we're a good fit for working together.
How often will I need to come to therapy?
Therapy frequency is personalized based on your needs and goals. Many clients start with weekly sessions, then transition to bi-weekly or monthly as they progress. We'll work together to determine the schedule that best supports your growth and fits your lifestyle.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy and protected by law (HIPAA). What you share in sessions stays private, with few exceptions required by law: if there's risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected child or elder abuse, or if records are subpoenaed by a court. I'll explain confidentiality fully during our first session and answer any questions you have.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee. I understand that emergencies happen, and I'm always willing to discuss individual circumstances. Consistent attendance helps ensure the best therapeutic outcomes.
Do you prescribe medication?
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I cannot prescribe medication. However, I work collaboratively with psychiatrists and medical providers when medication may be helpful as part of a comprehensive treatment approach. I can provide referrals to trusted prescribers if needed.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can benefit anyone going through challenges, transitions, or seeking personal growth. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from counseling. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply want to understand yourself better and develop healthier coping strategies, therapy may be right for you. The free 15-minute consultation is a perfect opportunity to explore whether therapy—and specifically working with me—feels like a good fit.
What therapeutic approaches do you use?
I use an integrative approach tailored to each client's unique needs. My work draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based approaches, motivational interviewing (especially for substance use issues), and solution-focused therapy. I also incorporate mental health nutrition principles when relevant. The most important factor is finding approaches that resonate with you and support your specific goals.
Do you work with couples or families?
My practice focuses on individual adult therapy. If you're seeking couples or family therapy, I'm happy to provide referrals to qualified therapists who specialize in those areas.
How do I get started?
